The Mission
The fish that shouldn't be here, sold for the people who are.
Blue catfish are not native to the Chesapeake Bay. Since their accidental introduction in the 1970s, their population has exploded — displacing native species, collapsing crab beds, and straining the watershed. Nobody commercial-fishes them in volume because the retail market is thin. So they keep eating.
Charity Off The Hook solves both problems at once. ProFish sources blue catfish from Chesapeake watermen, processes it on our cutting floor, and sells it through our regular channels — retail truck, restaurant accounts, online shop. Every pound sold is tagged to a different monthly charity, and 100% of that pound's proceeds are donated at the end of the month.
The fish is mild, white, and versatile — it grills like mahi, fries like haddock, and takes a blackening spice better than either. The watermen get paid. The watershed gets a break. The cause of the month gets funded. No marketing line on the package — just the fish and the math.
